News for mon folks: My exams end this fri. 2 papers left (Empires and Metaphysics)
The sheer enormity of the things that I must catch up with over the next 2 days seem crushing especially because it's ridiculous how little is actually needed for writing an 1 hour/question paper.
I know.. I'll probably end up overstudying.. again.

Focusing on "picking up 15 points for every possible scenario for each colonial empire" and memorising.

Last night, Denise and i were mugging outside LT 4 (near the bridge linking arts and engine) and were appalled at the noise level that a table of 3 Vietnamese girls were capable of producing. They're truly in need for one of those etiquette courses i believe: prob could try for a "FIND OUT WHY NO ONE IS DATING YOU COURSE" or "KEEP IT SOFT OR GET IT THE HARD WAY COURSE"> don't mind conducting one for them at a migre cost really. (=

Over the weekend, Sir, Ronnie and I caught Fracture, which was truly entertaining. I haven't enjoyed film this much for ages perhaps because all movies these days shun the concept of work and intellect like guys seem to shun me.. hmmm... But that doesn't mean they're producing relaxing movies at all. I mean, look at TURISTA, a film with a name like that should be innocent, hot and all but turned out to be another gross fest.

haha.. Fracture embodies the subtle display of bourgeois society in cosmopolitan LA, streaming with professionals and brainiacs with hot looks and bodies to boot. Funky. Love the development of the plot - succinct without being overly predicatable. Plus Anthony Hopkins has done it again with an awesome performance that gives a good name to every intelligent criminal mastermind out there.

Really gotta catch this film folks - i'd give it 4 stars but i guess my verdict wouldn't affect your decision much anyway, which explains the need for the review above.

I'll be heading to SGH later in the afternoon for a med appt with Dr Jaya, my thyroid doctor. It's ridiculous how much I was looking forward to it yesterday as compared to how much I'm dreading it now. I've always cussed at the waiting time but the fact that I've still got much to look through before my Empires paper on wed makes it even more tormenting. Had imagined the trip to be an escape from my hectic schedule but realised this morn that it'll prob just make recovering lost time impossible once I get back to campus.

I have no choice either way. Only consolation would prob be Denise accompanying me. It's always good to have someone do a silly but mandatory thing with you. Takes half the pain of your shoulders knowing that someone's willing to take the time off for you. Thanks den.

2 more days left to read Empires, Colonies and Imperialism.
and effectively, 1 day for Metaphysics after the Empires paper.

Takes a deep breath and exhales*

Really gotta buck up for the final league of the race. Greener pastures ahead. (Or at least a blind hope for better days once the school term ends) Freedom can't be all that bad :) Gonna hits the books I've always wanted to read this hols! Yay!

I end with a quote:

"Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage.
Anger at the way things are,
and Courage to see that they do not remain the way they are." - St Augustine

Anger, I've got plenty in excess but Courage is creeping out of me slowly... haha.. do i resemble a worm to u? (spineless) Still, I gotta push on, even if it's with nothing else but faith that God will make all things beautiful for me.

Amen.

P.S I went for the annual Estee Lauder fair again! real cool got a whole lot of bargains. :)
Can't wait to go out so that I can try some of my new make up on!

Friend, it is an honour to know you.

We agree on almost many things and disagree on few

but if you wish to end our our friendship,

then it must be that these few are still too many.

Your friend,
Sartre

-my memory of what Sartre wrote to Camus before tearing down his entire political proposition for the settlement of the Algerian problem in the 50s.

I'll post a complete entry on it once i'm done with the exams! Look forward to it folks. I just love the Camus and Sartre dialogue.

"150 words... 150 words...."
2 simple English words that have been resonating in my now feverish head since the end of French test just now.
Yes, i did what i would never have been capable of doing for any other paper- Hand in an essay with insufficient words.
150 words was the min. requirement but i'm guessing (owing to the fact that i hadn't the time to count obviously) that i only made 130. Will i fail?!!?!?
I can't believe that i still screwed up at the test after all this effort.
Perhaps i should let this go. After all, it's French 1, my first exposure to an entirely new language anyway. BUT IT's SO HARD TO LET GO.
It's difficult to forgive myself.
I hate being a perfectionist.

Could it be that I'm just being too hard on myself? Just like i am for Metaphysics.
But I can't just let myself be labelled a Bimbo.
I have more pride than that plus I honestly believe that I have a shot at a decent grade for the rest of the 3 examinable modules I'll be taking in the exam to come.

Whatever it is, i need to be thankful that there'll be less mugging this time as compared to last sem, when i had to sit for 5 modules' exams. If I have faith, I should be able to squeeze some As outta this sem. Then at least, i wouldn't feel so bad even if my French failed me. But God, please, don't let me get anything below a B- for French. PLEASE!!!

Oral exam's tmr. The final chance to make comeback. May God be with us. Amen.

I've been thinking a lot lately. So much that just thinking about absolutely nothing seems to be what i need the most right now.

Descartes says "I think therefore I am" so i guess that's why we've got so many philosophers out there figuring answers to things that don't actually need answering. Plus, thinking too much leads to PR at a mental facility. So i guess it's a big Non Merci for me.

The perfect rest. The perfect time with God is not thinking at all, not worrying at all, not having any inhibitions and not doing anything at all.

I guess that's what i really need now perhaps.

Rest.
Goodnight cruel world. Yawn*

P.S really into My Chemical Romance now. They rock!
